Poverty. Forgotten villages. Neglected families. That’s where our work begins.
In forgotten villages across the Balkans, families live without electricity, water, or heating, sometimes even without enough food. Their homes are falling apart. Jobs are gone. Cold seeps into every crack.
Behind closed doors, children grow up without the basic conditions for life. Parents stay silent, doing what they can, fighting to survive one day at a time. And outside their village, no one even knows they exist.
The human cost of poverty in the Balkans
Poverty in the Balkans is more than statistics, but numbers still tell a story that is hard to ignore.
Behind each one are children starting school unprepared, families skipping meals, and parents fighting to make it through another month. Behind every number is a child we will never forget.
In a small village near Bačka Palanka live David, Luka, and Vuk, three brothers aged 9, 6, and 3.
They once lived without electricity or beds, in a freezing house that was falling apart. Their mother, Jelena, fled domestic violence to protect her children, leaving her to raise them alone and fight for their safety and dignity.
Thanks to the support of donors, their home was fully renovated. The family now lives in a safe, warm house, with new furniture and the basic conditions every child deserves. What was once a place of survival is now a space where children can grow up with dignity.
We are an international humanitarian organization, working hand in hand with you, to support Serbian families and communities across the Balkans. Helping a family isn’t a one-time gesture, it’s a journey that calls for deep understanding and long-term commitment.
Because poverty isn’t just a lack of money, it’s the absence of joy, dignity, and belonging.
That’s why we focus on four key pillars that cover every aspect of life in poverty, from urgent material aid to the things that can’t be measured: a child’s smile, a mother’s sense of safety, and the quiet reassurance that they are not alone.
Princip restores dignity and hope to vulnerable families across the Balkans by tackling poverty at its roots.
We strengthen families, protect children, and rebuild communities through direct aid, long-term support, and advocacy.
Guided by identity, history, and responsibility, we act for our people out of principle.
Some families live in darkness and cold, in homes that are falling apart.
No beds. No bathrooms. No sense of safety.
We listen to the families the world doesn’t see, and we don’t look away. We do whatever it takes to bring back warmth, safety, and dignity, whether it’s food, firewood, furniture, or rebuilding a home. Because our goal is not just survival, it’s restoring the things that make life truly human.
School is more than learning, it’s where children feel they belong.
For kids living in poverty, it’s a rare chance to start fresh, like every other child. That’s why we make sure they have everything they need to walk into the classroom with pride: notebooks, pencils, backpacks, shoes, and school clothes. We also support under-resourced schools in rural areas, providing laptops, supplies, and even renovating classrooms.
Wherever children are denied the basics of a dignified education, we show up.
When a family has no food or firewood, the holidays aren’t joyful , they’re silent. That’s when our message reaches those who need it most: families in poverty, children’s hospitals, schools, and homes for children without parents.
Gifts, holiday parcels, and warm meals are not just things.
They carry a message: you are not forgotten.
This is not just a humanitarian project. It’s a chance to share joy, kindness, and the feeling of togetherness during the most tender time of the year.
We’re introducing a new approach to humanitarian work in Serbia, a long-term child sponsorship model inspired by trusted international programs. This initiative allows donors to continue supporting a child they’ve already helped, or to begin a new journey by connecting with a child or family in need of steady, long-term care.
This is more than a one-time donation. It’s the beginning of a meaningful connection. Through regular support, shared progress, and a sense of belonging, children gain stability, and donors witness the true impact of their kindness.
At Princip Organisation, we handle every donation with care, transparency, and purpose.
We keep administrative costs low, so more help reaches those who need it most.
And you choose how to give:
• Support a specific family
• Fund one of our core projects
• Or let us direct your gift where it’s needed most
Every decision we make is guided by one thing: Principle.
Because if you don’t have principle – what guides you?
Stay close to the people you’re helping, and the difference your support makes.
